The Criminal Defense Practice Group is comprised of experienced and highly-skilled former state and federal prosecutors who offer valuable insight to the defense of any criminal matter.

Our Criminal Defense Practice also represents victims and witnesses to criminal offenses. John W. McGowan is a former Senior Assistant District Attorney in Rockland County and Assistant District Attorney in Bronx County. Mr. McGowan is uniquely qualified to offer counsel and defend any criminal case from arraignment through trial. Mr. McGowan has particular experience with DWI cases, as he handled hundreds of such cases as a prosecutor and understands what is required to deliver the best for his clients through plea negotiations, hearings, and trial. Mr. McGowan is a strong courtroom advocate and experienced trial attorney who relies on meticulous preparation, creative legal and factual analysis, and possesses a confident demeanor that has helped produce favorable verdicts before Rockland and Bronx County juries.
For over ten years, John P. Hannigan was a federal prosecutor in the Southern District of New York and a New York City prosecutor in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office. During that time, he litigated major felony cases, organized crime, and narcotics cases.
