Surrogates from Westchester, Bronx, Queens, Broome and Albany counties discussed how Surrogates from around the state handle SCPA 17-A Guardianships and applications for Special Needs Trusts. The Surrogates discussed issues such as bonding, annual accountings, budgets, investment discretion and the use of corporate trustees when a SCPA 17-A Guardian applies for the creation of a Special Needs Trust. They also discussed proposed amendments to SCPA 17-A.<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Briand served as Program Co-Chair of the annual event, assisting with speakers, encouraging attendance by members of the judiciary and coordinating with the Section Chair.
